What we believe

“As members of the Christian Church, we confess that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God, and proclaim him Lord and Savior of the world.”
This is the core of our faith! We proclaim this when we choose to be baptized or become a part of the church. We are bound together in the one essential of faith: that the God we know in Jesus Christ is the highest power in our lives and is our Saving Grace. The Love of God embodied in Jesus is the Saving Power for our world.

“In Christ’s name and by his grace, we accept our mission of witness and service to all people.”
As a congregation, we accept our call to reflect the life of Christ so that others may know God’s love. We believe we are called to serve all God’s people.

“We rejoice in God, maker of heaven and earth, and in the covenant of love which binds us to God and one another.”
That “covenant of love” means that we have a responsibility to God, to each other, and to all of God’s creation. To live in relationship with God, is to live in a relationship of love and care with other people and with the earth itself.

“Through baptism into Christ, we enter into newness of life and are made one with the whole people of God.”
In the waters of baptism, we die to our old life and we rise with Christ to new life. Baptism is an act of God’s grace experienced through the church community. We practice baptism by immersion, yet we recognize and affirm other methods of baptism.

“In the communion of the Holy Spirit we are joined 67641_171278439556177_8348858_ntogether in discipleship and in obedience to Christ.”
When we are baptized we recognize that we are a part of God’s people joined in Christ’s Spirit. It is in this Spirit that we live out the love, compassion, peace, and reconciliation of God in the world.

“At the table of the Lord, we celebrate with thanksgiving the saving acts and presence of Christ.”
We break bread and share the cup of hope in communion every Sunday. All are welcome to share in Holy Communion; this is not our table, it is Christ’s table. When we share this meal at Christ’s table we are reconciled with God and with God’s people.

“Within the universal church, we receive the gift of ministry and the light of scripture.”
We celebrate that we are a part of Christ’s Church which is greater than any one congregation or denomination. Together, in conversation with other Christians throughout the world and those who have lived before us, we come to know more of God and the life of faith.

“In the bonds of Christian faith, we yield ourselves to God that we may serve the One whose kingdom has no end. Blessing, glory, and honor be to God forever. Amen.”
